My sympathy and prayers go out to Rod's family and friends. Even though I didn't know him, I taught with his mother and had some of his family as students during my years of teaching in Troy.

Oh Rod, my friend. I am so going to miss you. You've given me so many happy memories. Taking your time to sit and hold my hand when my husband was dying, rescuing me at Wal-Mart in Mansfield when I forgot my purse at home and had no gas to go get it, paying for my groceries and gas for my car until I could pay you back Monday at work. Having lunch with us at Julie's when my dad was so ill. And just every day at the hospital cafeteria. I love you my dear friend and I will miss you forever.

I had known Rod from the time when he was part of the Sims and Spaulding team. My dad used to buy all his Jeeps from Rod and would trust no one else. I had the pleasure of meeting him again through the Troy Post Office and how I looked forward to his always engaging smile. I can see him in my mind driving the vans in Troy and always being amazed how he fought so hard and came back from the horrific racing accident. What an incredible man, I will miss him.l My sincere condolences to the family.

Rod was a great racer and more importantly a great man who I am glad to have called my friend.
He was infectious to be around and his love for everyone didn't go unnoticed ever.
