Brian is a graduate of Pottsville Area High School. He studied at Northampton Community College, where he obtained an associate’s degree in Applied Science and Certificate of Mortuary Education.  He then served his internship with Heffner Family Service, at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home in Pottsville, PA. In 1996 he became a licensed funeral director, working exclusively at this location. The following year he was promoted to funeral director / supervisor at the Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Homes in Wilkes-Barre and Avoca, PA.  Then, in January 2004 he accepted the title of Regional Manager, overseeing nine locations. 

He was now in charge of the overall success of Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home in Pottsville, PA, Vickery Funeral Home in Troy, PA, Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Homes in both Avoca and Wilkes-Barre, PA and Robert’s Funeral Home in Wellsburg, NY.  On August 16, 2013 Mr. Leffler proudly announced his acquisition and ownership of these fine businesses. 

Brian and his wife Victoria are blessed with two children, Gage and Sloane. 
The entire Leffler family would like to say how proud they are to be able to continue the legacy of providing the highest quality funeral and cremation services to these locations and the surrounding communities.

Dan Gilliland

Daniel E. Gilliland is a funeral director proudly serving families at the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral Home in Troy, PA and the Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsburg, N.Y. 

Mr. Gilliland lives in Troy with his wife Kimberly. They have been married for 22 years and have 7 children together. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida and was awarded a degree in Funeral Directing from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. 

Dan is a member of Trojan Lodge #306 of Free & Accepted Masons, a member and past High Priest of Troy Royal Arch Chapter #261, a member of both the Valley of Towanda, PA and the Valley of Williamsport, PA Scottish Rite, and is a member of the Bradford County Camp of Gideon’s International.  Dan enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. 

Besides being a licensed funeral director in Pennsylvania and New York, Dan is also a Certified Celebrant. If you are not a member of a church or if you simply do not wish to have a religious service, he can help you. As a Certified Celebrant, Dan works with families to create a meaningful tribute that reflects the personality and life-style of the deceased. He received his training and certification from the In-Sight Institute.

Greg Goldthwait

Greg Goldthwait is a funeral director with thirty years experience in New York. He proudly serves families at the Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsburg, N.Y. and the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral Home in Troy, PA.  Greg and his wife Teresa reside in Big Flats, NY and have two daughters, Samantha and Cassie. 

Greg is a Southern Tier Native and a graduate of SUNY Canton, NY where he received his AAS in Mortuary Science. Mr. Goldthwait began his career with the Roberts Funeral Home in November 2005. Shortly after obtaining his Pennsylvania Funeral Directors License in 2008, he joined the staff at Gerald W. Vickery Funeral Home in Troy, PA. Greg is a member of the Finger Lakes Funeral Directors Association where he serves as a Trustee and Board Member, a twenty year member of the National Ski Patrol at Greek Peak Ski Resort where he has served several years as Assistant Patrol Leader and Board Member, Fire Commissioner of Big Flats Fire District #1 where he served as Chairman, Chemung Valley Waverly Lodge #350, and volunteered as a CVSA Youth Soccer Coach.

Micky Cavanaugh

Micky and his wife of twelve years, Jill, reside in Sylvania, PA. He attended Mansfield University for Nursing, and was awarded a diploma in Personal Care Home Administration from Penn State, Beaver Campus.  His career included a leadership role as a Personal Care Home Administrator for Phyl-Carlo Retirement Center in Gillett, Pennsylvania. Presently, he is serving his community as Interim Pastor at Gillett Baptist Church, and is enrolled In the Academy for Christian Training and Service through the American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware, with the goal of becoming a Certified Lay Minister. 

Micky is a member of the South Creek Little League Board of Directors and is a volunteer Tee-Ball Coach for South Creek in Gillett, Pennsylvania. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the North Country Baptist Youth Ministries in Troy, Pennsylvania.


William “Bill” Middleton

Bill is originally from Cayuga, Canada.  Relocating eleven years ago, he and his wife, of ten years, Deb, now reside in Sylvania. Bill graduated from Mohawk College, Ontario, Canada.  His career spanned twenty seven years at Stelco Steel Company, Hamilton, ON, Canada. 

Retiring in 2003, Bill enjoys spending time with his six grandchildren, golfing, traveling with his wife and relaxing at the cottage. 

He has been associated with Vickery Funeral Home since 2013. 


Gladys Starkey

Gladys is a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, Mansfield, PA.  She married her husband, Paul in 1955.  Just one year later, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force and over the next few years they found themselves living in Texas and Kansas. Upon discharge from the military they returned to Troy where they have made their home.  Gladys and Paul are blessed with four children, nine grandchildren and three great grand children. 

Gladys was employed at the Eureka Specialty Corp., which became Paper Magic Corp.  She worked there for 28 years until her retirement in 2002.  Until 2013, Gladys donated her time at the local Red Cross Blood Bank. She is a Member of the First Baptist Church of Troy and does volunteer work for the Church. 

She has been associated with Vickery Funeral Home since 2005 


Richard “Dick” Chrzan

Richard was born and raised in Troy, PA. He is a graduate of Troy High School and played basketball for their team. Dick and his wife Pat have been married for 20 years and live near Troy, PA. They are blessed with five children and ten grandchildren. 

Dick was employed by the Agway Corporation and was responsible for managing stores in Bradford and Tioga Counties. His career spanned 26 years. Since his retirement in 1998, he enjoys playing golf, hunting and spending time with his family including his dog, Hershey.

Our Funeral Homes we believe that our families need our care even after the day of your loved one’s funeral. Therefore, as an Extended Free Service, we have an aftercare program with Rev. Ken Weiss.

Rev. Weiss recently retired from full time ministry after almost 30 years as a pastor. He is now working with us to provide both aftercare services and pre-need services (common practice of people arranging and paying for funerals in advance in order to relieve their families of that stress during a most difficult time as well as being able to lock in current rates). Rev. Weiss is well familiar with helping people experiencing grief.

We believe that with this free extended service, we offer to our families a full package of services that are geared to help you at this most difficult time. We are including a brief introductory bio of Rev. Weiss, he also specializes in assisting families with preplanning services.

Ken moved to Williamsport in 1986 after attending the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary graduating with highest honors with a Masters of Divinity Degree (1986)

  • Member of the Williamsport Kiwanis Club since 1992 and served as President in 1996
  • Received the Ecumenical Service Award from United Churches of Lycoming County - their highest honor - in 2011
  • Served on various boards in this area : The Center in Williamsport, Habitat for Humanity, and Yokefellows Ministry
  • Coached AYSO soccer in town for 12 years
  • Past President of Orchestra Parents Association at the Williamsport High School
  • Served on the Board of Directors of United Churches of Lycoming County for almost 25 years
  • Has Life and Health Insurance Licenses. In addition, is licensed to sell Securities and Investments holding a Series 6, Series 63, and Series 65 License.

Alan Walsh

Alan and his wife Kathy married on October 11, 1975 and live in Sylvania, PA.  He attended Troy schools, graduating in 1967.  He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force August 1968, serving until August of 1972, with the rank of sergeant.  He worked many years in grocery stores.  In January 2001 he and Kathy moved to Darlington, MD to manage a peach and apple orchard.  They moved back to Sylvania in October 2015.  Kathy and Alan have two daughters: Jill (Micky) Cavanaugh, who has two sons, and Angela (Ozzie) Osgood, who has four sons.  Alan enjoys hunting, the great outdoors, and spending time with his family.
