Brian Leffler

Brian Leffler

Owner, Licensed Funeral Director & Certified Celebrant

Brian is a graduate of Pottsville Area High School. He studied at Northampton Community College, where he obtained an associate’s degree in Applied Science and Certificate of Mortuary Education.  Brian then served his internship with Heffner Family Service, at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home in Pottsville, PA. In 1996 he became a licensed funeral director, working exclusively at this location. The following year he was promoted to funeral director/supervisor at the Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Homes in Wilkes-Barre and Avoca, PA.  Then, in January 2004 he accepted the title of Regional Manager, overseeing nine locations. 

He was now in charge of the overall success of Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home in Pottsville, PA, Vickery Funeral Home in Troy, PA, Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Homes in both Avoca and Wilkes-Barre, PA and Robert’s Funeral Home in Wellsburg, NY.  On August 16, 2013, Mr. Leffler proudly announced his acquisition and ownership of these fine businesses. 

Brian and his wife Victoria are blessed with two children, Gage and Sloane. 
The entire Leffler family would like to say how proud they are to be able to continue the legacy of providing the highest quality funeral and cremation services to these locations and the surrounding communities.

Dan Gilliland

Dan Gilliland

Licensed Funeral Director & Certified Celebrant

Daniel E. Gilliland is a funeral director proudly serving families at the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Troy, PA and the Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsburg, N.Y. 



Mr. Gilliland lives in Troy with his seven children and has been widowed since 2016. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida and was awarded a degree in Funeral Directing from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. 



Dan is a member of The First United Church of Troy, Trojan Lodge #306 of Free & Accepted Masons, a member and past High Priest of Troy Royal Arch Chapter #261, a member of both the Valley of Towanda, PA and the Valley of Williamsport, PA Scottish Rite, and serves on several community boards and committees.  Dan enjoys traveling, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his family.



Besides being a licensed funeral director in Pennsylvania and New York, Dan is also a Certified Celebrant. If you are not a member of a church or if you simply do not wish to have a religious service, he can help you. As a Certified Celebrant, Dan works with families to create a meaningful tribute that reflects the personality and lifestyle of the deceased. He received his training and certification from the In-Sight Institute.

Greg Goldthwait

Greg Goldthwait

Licensed Funeral Director & Certified Celebrant

Greg Goldthwait is a funeral director with thirty years experience in New York. He proudly serves families at the Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsburg, N.Y. and the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral Home in Troy, PA.  Greg and his wife Teresa reside in Big Flats, NY and have two daughters, Samantha and Cassie. 

Greg is a Southern Tier Native and a graduate of SUNY Canton, NY where he received his AAS in Mortuary Science. Mr. Goldthwait began his career with the Roberts Funeral Home in November 2005. Shortly after obtaining his Pennsylvania Funeral Directors License in 2008, he joined the staff at Gerald W. Vickery Funeral Home in Troy, PA. Greg is a member of the Finger Lakes Funeral Directors Association where he serves as a Trustee and Board Member, a twenty year member of the National Ski Patrol at Greek Peak Ski Resort where he has served several years as Assistant Patrol Leader and Board Member, Fire Commissioner of Big Flats Fire District #1 where he served as Chairman, Chemung Valley Waverly Lodge #350, and volunteered as a CVSA Youth Soccer Coach.

Micky Cavanaugh

Micky Cavanaugh

Non-Licensed Funeral Attendant

Micky and his wife of twelve years, Jill, reside in Sylvania, PA. He attended Mansfield University for Nursing, and was awarded a diploma in Personal Care Home Administration from Penn State, Beaver Campus.  His career included a leadership role as a Personal Care Home Administrator for Phyl-Carlo Retirement Center in Gillett, Pennsylvania. Presently, he is serving his community as Interim Pastor at Gillett Baptist Church, and is enrolled In the Academy for Christian Training and Service through the American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware, with the goal of becoming a Certified Lay Minister. 

Micky is a member of the South Creek Little League Board of Directors and is a volunteer Tee-Ball Coach for South Creek in Gillett, Pennsylvania. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the North Country Baptist Youth Ministries in Troy, Pennsylvania.


Gladys Starkey

Gladys Starkey

Non-Licensed Funeral Attendant

Gladys is a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, Mansfield, PA.  She married her husband, Paul in 1955.  Just one year later, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force and over the next few years, they found themselves living in Texas and Kansas. Upon discharge from the military, they returned to Troy where they have made their home.  Gladys and Paul are blessed with four children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. 

Gladys was employed at the Eureka Specialty Corp., which became Paper Magic Corp.  She worked there for 28 years until her retirement in 2002.  Until 2013, Gladys donated her time at the local Red Cross Blood Bank. She is a Member of the First Baptist Church of Troy and does volunteer work for the Church. 

She has been associated with Vickery Funeral Home since 2005 


Alan Walsh

Part-Timer Vickery

Alan and his wife Kathy married on October 11, 1975, and lived in Sylvania, PA.  He attended Troy schools, graduating in 1967.  Alan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in August 1968, serving until August of 1972, with the rank of sergeant.  He worked for many years in grocery stores.  In January 2001 he and Kathy moved to Darlington, MD to manage a peach and apple orchard.  They moved back to Sylvania in October 2015.  Kathy and Alan have two daughters: Jill (Micky) Cavanaugh, who has two sons, and Angela (Ozzie) Osgood, who has four sons.  Alan enjoys hunting, the great outdoors, and spending time with his family.
