Marvin H. Berry, Age 88, of Berrytown Road passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at home. Marvin was born August 27, 1927 at home in Berrytown son of the late Earl and Jenny (Woodard) Berry. He was a graduate of Troy High School. Marvin was known for his strong work ethic. He operated a dairy farm in Springfield Township for many years and was a Rural Mail Carrier retiring from his postal career following 32 years of service and completely retiring at the age of 70. Marvin was predeceased by his loving wives Esther (Ameigh) Berry and Edith Watkins Berry. He was a member of the Berrytown Wesleyan Church and enjoyed reading, studying the bible and being health conscious. Marvin was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather to his family and will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to call Monday, April 11, 2016 from 11 to 1 PM at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA 16947. Marvin’s funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1 PM with Reverend Patrick Kelly of the Berrytown Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment will follow in Checkerville Cemetery.
Surviving are his children, Marilyn (Carl) McClelland, Kathleen (Duane) Leonard, David (Dianne) Berry all of Columbia Cross Roads, Dawn Hollenback of Gillett, step-children Ruth (Bob) Garrison of Troy, Judy Tarbox of Parrish, FL, Virginia (Marvin) Martin of Concord, NC, Howard (Linda) Watkins of Troy, eleven grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Bernice Berry of FL, several nieces, nephews and friends.
Marvin was predeceased by his parents, his two wives, Esther and Edith, a sister Hattie Stewart and two brothers, Raymond Berry, Clifford Berry and his son-in-law, Russell Hollenback.
Memorials in Marvin’s name may be made to the Berrytown Wesleyan Church, 178 Burt Road, Gillett, PA 16925.
