Grace A. (Washburn) Erle

Grace A. (Washburn) Erle, 96, of Big Pond, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center in Athens, PA.  She was the loving wife of the late Willis L. Erle who passed away on June 21, 1985.  The couple married September 21, 1935 and had 50 happy years together.  Grace was born on May 23, 1919 in Nichols, NY, daughter of the late Gilbert R. and Orpha (Spencer) Washburn.  Grace was a long time member of the Big Pond United Methodist Church, was the church Sexton, and was a member of the Springfield Rebeka’s Lodge.  Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Grace is survived by her daughters: Beverly A. Watts of West Burlington, PA, Mary Ellen (Don) Goodwin of Big Pond, and Kay E. (Don) Spencer of Towanda, PA, her grandchildren: John F. Fives, Rex E. (Charissa) Fives, Brenda (Kevin) Leonard, Donald L. Ennis, Thomas H. Butters, Jr., Darlene J. (Gerald) Jayne, Theresa K. Moore, Kenneth (Venus) Watts, Kevin (Julie) Watts, Kimberly (Bill) Chapin, Keisha (Brian) Lent, Jarrail D. Goodwin, her 27 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews, and her care givers: Bonnie Simons and Paula Mallory.  Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willis, her son William E. Erle, her granddaughter Lesa D. Fives-Williams, her two great grandsons: Chad Rhinbold and Dylan Chapin, her son-in-law Kenneth Watts, her two brothers: Walter and Leon Washburn, and her sisters: Dorothy Campbell, Hazel Collins, and Marion Dodge.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 12:00-1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Big Pond United Methodist Church, 2676 Big Pond Road, Columbia Cross Roads, PA.  The funeral service to celebrate Grace’s life will be held following the viewing at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8th at the church with her pastor, Rev. Joshua Davinsizer officiating. Burial will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park.  Pall bearers will be Grace’s grandsons.    Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA.

Grace’s family would like to thank the Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Ram Sharma for the wonderful care that Grace received from them.
