Clara L. Forbes, 92 years old, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Guthrie- Memorial Skilled Nursing Home. She was born June 29, 1924 to Smith A. and Laura N. (Gillette) Forbes of Myersburg, PA. At a very young age she was stricken with Polio and other medical problems. She was a very talented musician, playing several instruments and piano and gave piano lessons. Clara was a graduate of Towanda High School and attended Mansfield College. She worked and retired from Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory. Following retirement she delivered the Towanda Daily Review for many years. Clara was always active giving tirelessly of herself and expected nothing in return. She enjoyed traveling with her niece Nancy and her husband Ken in their motor home.

 

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sisters, Florence Robbins, Ida McNeil, two brothers, Luellen Forbes and Leon Forbes.

 

Surviving are many nieces and nephews. A special niece, Nancy & Ken Owlett of Towanda, PA, special nephew, Raymond S. Forbes of Myersburg, PA and many friends.

 

Honoring Clara's wishes there will be no funeral services. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA.

 

Clara's family would like to thank the Guthrie-Memorial Skilled Nursing Unit for all their excellent care, love and compassion shown to Clara during her stay.

This writing was found in Clara's bible it said,

“If all lips spoke the truth and greed - hate - jealousy - also pride was cast aside, Love could rule the world and kindness and love seen in every race, one could look in the mirror and view the good lord in his face”.
