Sarah Naomi Carman, 92, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2019 at the Bradford County Manor of Troy, PA. She was born on August 16, 1926 in Troy, daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (VanNoy) Carman. Sarah graduated from Troy High School in 1944 and was very athletic. She graduated from Lock Haven State College in 1950 with a teaching degree and was employed as a gym teacher for the Sydney New York High School system for 15 years. After her teaching assignment, she continued to work at Carman’s Mobile Station for several years. Through her early years Sarah enjoyed swimming, bowling, walking, music, reading, word puzzles, and traveling to historic Pennsylvania landmarks.
Sarah is survived by her nephew Claude R. Carman and niece Linda Carman-Marley. She was predeceased by her parents and several brothers and sisters of the Carman family including Walter, Roy, Claude, Russell, Richard, Bursha, and Martha.
A special thank you to all the nurses and staff of Bradford County Manor and Guthrie Hospice nurses for the tender care and comfort she was given.
Private services and interment at the Hilton Memorial Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sarah Carman’s memory may be sent to the Bradford County Manor in Troy, PA and Guthrie Hospice Care of Towanda, PA. Books may also be donated to the Bradford County Library in her memory.
