Kelly Jennings Obituary

Kelly Jo Jennings, 54, of Troy, PA passed away unexpectedly at home on December 22, 2023. Kelly was born in Corning, NY on January 22, 1969, and was raised by her grandmother Lena McClure. She attended Troy High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1987. After graduating she worked a variety of jobs, including as a crew member at Dunkin Donuts in Towanda, as an assembly line worker at Canton Manufacturing, and as a basket weaver at Bradford Basket Company in Troy, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Kelly went on to start a family with her husband, Keith, who she married on September 20, 1997. They had their first daughter, Paige, in July of 1998, followed by their second daughter, Allison, in September of 1999, and Kelly stayed at home to care for them, which was her most important role in life.

Kelly enjoyed many different hobbies over her lifetime, including hunting, fishing, reading, writing, crocheting, bowling, and gardening. She was also an accomplished ceramics painter and sold her work at many different local fairs and craft shows throughout the 1990s. During this time, she was also a member of a women’s bowling league with her mother-in-law Joy Jennings, where they bowled every Wednesday afternoon. Of all her hobbies, she enjoyed hunting and fishing the most. Kelly harvested many nice whitetail deer, including an 11-point buck in November 2010, and always enjoyed spring gobbler season, harvesting a trophy gobbler with two beards weighing over 23 pounds in May 2010. One of her best fishing experiences was on September 3, 1990 on Lake Ontario, where she caught a 40-inch, 30-pound King Salmon, one of the biggest fish caught at that lake during that time.

Kelly always enjoyed the summertime. She loved taking her daughters swimming at the pool and enjoyed going to the fair every July. For several summers, she planted and worked on vegetable gardens with her husband and loved harvesting and cooking all the different produce. Kelly was an excellent cook and baker, but sometimes if a dessert didn’t turn out the way she wanted, it would end up in the driveway!

Kelly enjoyed music and loved going to concerts. She got to go see Reba, George Strait, and many others in concert with her husband. She also enjoyed watching movies, watching the Eagles play football, and reading mystery novels. She spent her free time reading and writing, and always enjoyed watching TV and relaxing with her husband when he came home from work each day. She loved to sit and play board games and cards with her family after dinner together and was the winner of almost every Yahtzee game. Kelly loved to spend time with family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time with all her different family pets over the years, including dogs Jack, Herbie, Jake, and Titan, and cats Squiggy, Jenny, “Fat Cat,” “Pom Pom,” Leto, and Phoebe.

Kelly was a devoted wife to her husband, Keith, who she was with for 35 years, was a loving mother to her two daughters for their whole lives, a selfless caregiver to many people throughout her life, most recently her mother-in-law Joy Jennings, and a steadfast friend to many. She will be dearly missed by all.

Kelly is survived by her husband Keith Jennings, her daughters Paige (Karl Gundersen) and Allison Jennings, her sister Sandra McClure, her brother Leon (Phyllis) Jennings, her mother-in-law Alice Joy Jennings, and her sister-in-law Cynthia (Edward) Quigley. Kelly was predeceased by her parents Danny and Eleanor Truitt, her grandmother Lena McClure, and her father-in-law Wilbur Jennings.
