Joseph Edward Krovetcz, age 86 of Bentley Creek, PA passed away on November 26, 2023. Joe was born in Elmira, NY, Feb 26, 1937, son of the late Edward and Helen (Carrozza) Krovetcz. After graduating from Thomas A. Edison High School in 1954 he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Albuquerque, NM for four years. He returned to Elmira where he worked at Hardinge Brothers and was a mailman. He found his career as a plumber with Freddie D’Aloisio as his mentor. He was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters UA Local for 50 years. An avid sportsman, he was a member of Fur, Fin and Feather for many years.
He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Dottie (Hevener), brother-in-law Neal Palmer and in-laws Dottie and Bill Hevener. He is survived by his sister Fran Palmer, his daughter Konnie Davis, his son and daughter-in-law Bill Krovetcz and April Hart. His sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kathy and Maurice Sullivan and several nieces and nephews. His grandchildren Kenzie and Beck Davis gave him great joy.
Joe was a lifelong hunter and hosted many hunting parties for his crew every November. He
loved cooking for them and made sure everyone was well fed. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling out west and bringing home an elk. It was a family adventure with his son and daughter and was a highlight in his retirement years.
He was a very hard worker and in his spare time would try various ventures to provide for his family. He was a landlord at one point, owned a storage facility and even started his own plumbing business. The craziest was probably the chinchillas in the basement!
Joe was an avid animal lover starting with his hunting beagles at a young age. There were many.
family/hunting dogs from Irish Setters to a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and finally all of his beloved chocolate labs. Later in life he became a cat dad to strays turned house cats named Wide Load, Kitten and Blackie, also an outside cat called Bob.
This past year has been an adventure and special thanks go to some amazing neighbors. Thank you to Brad and Becky for always keeping an eye on things. Thank you to Bill and Tricia who were the only reason he was able to live at home for so long. Thank you to Brian for being Tricia’s backup when she wasn’t available. Thanks to Grace for being the tracker and the taxi when needed. Thank you to Wendell for being there for the daily tasks. In the end the staff from Bradford Hills and Guthrie Hospice helped bring him comfort.
Joe loved his dessert so the next time you have a piece of pie, ice cream or an éclair think of him!
