John F. Furey, Jr.

John F.  Furey, Jr., of Troy, PA, passed away on January 29, 2024, at Bradford Hills Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born on December 1, 1941, in Queens, NY. John was 82 years old at the time of his passing.  John was united in marriage to Linda J. (Terpening) Furey on July 24, 1993, celebrating 30 wonderful years together. Their love and companionship were a testament to their deep connection and shared values. He was a retired Resident Hall Supervisor for Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and a devoted history buff, specializing in US Civil War and World War II history. John's passion for history led him to travel extensively to various historical sites, enriching his knowledge and appreciation for the past. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history, which further deepened his understanding of the subject matter he held dear. John was a member of Victory Church in Troy, PA.

Left to cherish John's memory are his beloved wife, Linda J. Furey, his children: Therese (Stu) Fuhrman of Florida, Arlene (Jason) Kirkland of Dallas, TX, John Joseph (Julie) Furey of Phoenix, AZ, and stepchildren Norine L. Muhlfeld of Highland, NY, and Eric R. (Christina) Muhlfeld of Norwalk, CT. John also leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents Virginia K. (Rock) and John F. Furey, Sr.

Family and friends are invited to bid farewell to John on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Leona Open Arms Ministry, 3393 Leona Rd., Troy, PA 16947. The memorial service honoring his life will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 PM, at the church with Pastor Jody Kenyon officiating. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. at 1093 W Main St. Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
