James W. Wolfe, lovingly known as Jimmy, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024, in his hometown of Troy, PA. He was born on February 2, 1934, to the late C. Wilbur and Martha (Harris) Wolfe. James was 89 years old at the time of his passing.
Jim graduated from Troy High School in the class of 1951. He served 3 years in the US Army and dedicated over 46 years of his life as a grocery clerk at the Acme and then Bi-Lo Market in Troy, where he made lasting connections with his colleagues and customers alike. After retiring, he deeply missed the daily interactions that he had experienced throughout his career.
A true people person, Jim had an innate ability to strike up conversations with anyone he encountered. He would happily converse with the person standing next to him.
Jim loved sports and taking trips to attend ball games, wrestling matches, and NASCAR races. He treasured his journeys to Canada with his nephews Nelson and Walter, and one of Jim’s favorite pastimes was Wednesday night card games with his buddies.
Jim is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Lent) Wolfe, and his son Joe Wolfe and partner Ron Koshes of Washington, DC. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Jane Cole and several nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of Jim’s life will be held at the convenience of the family. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Bradford County Humane Society.
