TROY - Vera L. (Darrow) Harper, Age 90 of Granville Summit, PA passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Twin Oaks Personal Care Home.
Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the West Burlington United Methodist Church, Route 6, West Burlington, PA. Her Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, PA.
Vera was born July 25, 1923 in Elmira, NY daughter of the late Leon and Beatrice (Beach) Darrow. She was a graduate of the West Burlington and Troy Schools. She was married to the late Frank G. Harper and raised their family in Granville Summit. She worked as a secretary for Peppers Store, Smith's Store, Troy Community Hospital and also worked at the West Burlington Creamery for many years, but she focused her time mostly as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of the West Burlington United Methodist Church, W.O.W. (Women of West Burlington United Methodist Church), the Fire Department Auxiliary and the West Burlington Grange.
She is survived by a son and two daughters, Dale (Pam) Harper of Granville Summit, PA, Grace (Donald) Schauer of Sabinsville, PA and June Conklin of Elmira, NY, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marcella Williams of Wellsboro, PA and Janet Stanton of Elmira, NY, and her nieces and nephews.
Vera was predeceased by her parents, her husband Frank G. Harper, a son James Harper, and her brothers, Carl, Gerald and Leon Darrow.
Memorials in her memory may be made to the West Burlington United Methodist Church, Route 6, Troy, PA 16947, of to the Twin Oaks Resident Activities Fund, 1100 Cowley Road, Granville Summit, PA 16926.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA.
