Stuart H. Berry

Stuart H. Berry, age 91, of Gillett, PA passed away on May 31, 2024 at the Sayre Healthcare Center. He was the husband of Judy (Goodrich) Berry. The couple married June 22, 1963 and had 60 years together.

Stuart was born on September 18, 1932, in Gillett, PA, to the late Hugh and Rena (Elliot) Berry. He was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1950, earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn State, and went on to achieve his master's degree from Ithaca College. Stuart dedicated 33 years of his life as a Phys Ed teacher for Troy Area School District, where he also served as a Wrestling and Baseball coach. Stuart will be remembered by many students because of his “broom” and creative gym class activities.

Additionally, he enjoyed watching sporting events, working on the family farm, making maple syrup and raising beef cattle. He was very active in the family businesses known as Berry's Swimming Pool and Skating Rink and  Berry’s Sugar Camp Maple products.

Stuart is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Goodrich) Berry, his daughter Michele "Shelly" Miller of Hilliard, OH, his son Michael (Diana) Berry of Gillett, PA, grandchildren Nicole (Maxwell) Herath of Columbus, OH, Ryan Miller of Cleveland, OH, and Wyatt Berry of Gillett, PA, great grandson Jacob Herath, and his sister Kay (Gene) Costa of Homosassa, FL.

At Stuart’s request, the services will be private and held at the convenience of Stuart’s family. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main St. Troy, PA has been trusted with the funeral arrangements.
