Shirley O. (Perry) Vanderpool

TROY- Shirley O. (Perry) Vanderpool, 73, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital is Sayre. She was the loving wife of Eustace R. Vanderpool. The couple married August 9, 1958 and had 55 happy years together.
Family and friends are welcome to gather from 1:00-3:00 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Shirley's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 22nd at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of Shirley's family in Glenwood Cemetery.
Shirley was born on March 20, 1940 in Troy, PA, daughter of the late John D. and Helen (Cole) Perry. She was a 1958 Troy High School graduate and was a member of the Canton Moose Lodge. She enjoyed dancing when she and Eustace were young, enjoyed playing Euchre and gambling, and loved surfing the internet on her computer. Shirley was always outgoing and friendly, always had a smile on her face, and offered hugs to anyone willing to receive them.
Shirley is survived by her husband Eustace, her children; Mellany (Jerry) King of Lawrenceville, PA, and Rod (Kitty) Vanderpool of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, her grandchildren; Travis (Kim) Morgan, Kali Vanderpool, Brandon Vanderpool, Michelle Vanderpool, and Bradley King, her great grandchildren; Alyssia Morgan, Makenzie Morgan, Cohan Morgan, and Zane Morgan. Shirley is also survived by her sisters; Jeanie (Spencer) Thomas of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, Beverly Dickerson of Elmira, NY, Nancy (Dick) Rosekrans of Erin, NY, Dottie (Dick) Shellenberger of Elmira, NY, Joan (Gary) Ellsworth of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, and Donna (Dave) Westrick of Elmira, NY, numerous nieces and nephews, and her feline companion Murfie.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers; Delos "Del" Perry and John Perry, Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to American Cancer Society 1316 College Ave Ste 2, Elmira, NY 14901 for research on Myelodysplastic Syndrome.
