Sandra L. Wilkinson Parks passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, her younger sister, Judy, by her side. Sandy was born on February 20, 1938. She grew up in Elmira, NY and graduated from Elmira Southside High School in 1956.
She was an avid and prolific reader all her life. Sandy enjoyed singing and was blessed with a beautiful voice. She sang in church choir, school chorus, and for family and friends at gatherings and they could also hear her sing on the Corning radio station on Sunday afternoons. Sandy performed in the musical Oklahoma Holiday for Senior Day at Southside High School in June 1956, and she had a leading role as Emma. Most recently she sang in the Troy Presbyterian Church Choir.
In addition to enjoying music and reading, she was also a lifelong New York Yankees fan and a NASCAR fanatic. She would follow her Yankees from spring training to the World Series, and cheer on the Truex family drivers during the spring and summer.
Sandra also spent many hours as a volunteer at both Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, and the Troy Hospital as first a “candy striper,” then in an administrative role. In the last several years she enjoyed her pet cats. Her beloved cat, “Cali Kitty” was clearly the “feline love of her life!”
Sandy is survived by her husband, Burton Parks, Jr. of Troy, PA; her son Steven (Beverly) Moss of Wellsboro, PA, and daughter Lori Jo (Michael) Brown of Snoqualmie, WA; Burt’s four children Steve (Doris) Parks, Rod Parks, Lorraine (Jerry) Parks-Meyer, Eric (Virginia) Parks, and their families, all of Troy, PA; her brother Wayne (Joanne) Wilkinson of San Antonio, TX, and her sister Judy (Vern) Moss of Wellsboro, PA along with multiple nieces and nephews, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. And, of course, her dear Cali Kitty.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents Rodney A. Wilkinson and Betty King Wilkinson, and her brother Gary Wilkinson.
A graveside service will be held on Friday March 14 at 1:00 PM at the Ulster Cemetery 111 Totem St, Ulster, PA.
