James A. McKerrow, 79, of Troy, PA passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Robert Packer Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Theresa M. (Benton) McKerrow.  The couple married March 23, 1968 and had 49 happy years together.

 

Jim was born on September 10, 1937 in Columbia Cross Roads, PA, son of the late Charles W. and Kathryn (Seymour) McKerrow.  He was a 1956 Troy High School graduate and attended technical school in Williamsport.  Jim started his career as a Draftsman for General Electric where he worked on military aircraft, later became a self-employed carpenter, and ended his career as the Head of Maintenance for Glove House in Elmira.  He attended Bakerburg Community Church, was a member of the Troy Rod & Gun Club where he served on the Board of Directors and was Treasurer for 4 years, was a member of a local 500 card club and the McDonald’s Morning Coffee Club.  Jim loved the fine arts, especially painting, and served on the Fine Arts Council of Troy.  He also enjoyed woodworking, listening to Country and Western music, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

 

Jim is survived by his wife Theresa, his daughters: Milissa Cerio and companion Robert George of Elmira and Salamanca, NY, Alicia Rain Macedo and husband Joseph of Brazil, and Marjorie Fritsch and husband Thomas of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, his grandchildren: Rebeca Rain Byler and husband Stephen, Jonathan Christopher Bausch Macedo and wife Sarah, Charles James “CJ” Cerio, Jose Raphael Bausch Macedo, Allison Elizabeth Fritsch, Jessica Kathryn Fritsch, great grandchildren Nathaniel Byler and Saloma Rain Byler, his brother Donald McKerrow of Clearwater, FL and his sister Marjorie McKerrow of Bellwood, PA, sister-in-law Catherine McKerrow of Wellsburg, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Charles, Arnold, and Ernest.

 

Family and friends are welcome to call from 10:00 am-12:00 noon on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Bakerburg Community Church 197 Gray Valley Rd, Mainesburg, PA. The funeral service to honor Jim’s life will be held at noon on Thursday, June 15th at the church with Pastors Paul Binkley and David Dressler officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main St. Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
