Norma M. "Gigi" Smiley

TROY - Norma M. "GiGi" Smiley, Age 96, formerly of Granville passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Troy Hospital. She and the late Merwin A. Smiley and celebrated 44 years of marriage prior to his passing on June 8, 1984.
Family and friends are invited to call from 11 AM to 12 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Gerald W. Vickery Jr, Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA. Norma's funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 12 Noon with Reverend Bill Bardo officiating. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, PA.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Phillip Shepard and her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Marilyn Smiley, grandchildren, Phil Shepard, Jr, Dale (Penny) Shepard, Deanna (Dale) Bolt, Jennifer (Art) Buck, Tim Shepard, Robert Smiley, Michael Smiley, Bill (Star) Smiley, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, 2 step- great-great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Johnnie "Ginger" Smiley, many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Merwin A. Smiley, great-great-grandson, Aiden James Shepard, sisters, Julia Fennell, Marjorie Smiley, brothers, Donald, Phillip and Martin Allen.
Norma was born April 12, 1918 in Mt. Lake, PA daughter of the late Llewellyn and Bertha (Brooks) Allen. She graduated from the Luthers Mills School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved and enjoyed her family each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and most of all her children Donna and Phil Shepard and Dean and Marilyn Smiley.
Norma loved the outdoors especially working in her flower and veggie gardens. She was a former member of the Towanda Valley Grange for 95 years and the Windfall Grange, Granville Church of Christ, Golden Rod Rebekah Lodge # 567, Troy Sr. Citizens Club. Currently she was a member of the Sylvania Presbyterian Church.
