Nelson Brackbill, of Troy, PA, born on April 6, 1955, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at Bradford Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation in Troy. He was 70 years old.
Nelson was a man of many talents and passions, dedicating his life to both his family and his work. His career began at Brackbill’s Garage in Intercourse, PA, where he honed his skills and developed a strong work ethic. He then served as a shop foreman for Ladder Towers in Akron, PA, showcasing his leadership qualities. Nelson also had a distinguished career in law enforcement, serving as a police officer for Brecknock Township before becoming Chief of Police for East Earl Township.
In 1996, Nelson relocated to Bradford County, Pennsylvania, where he continued to enrich the community through his work at Rynone Manufacturing in Sayre, Insinger Performance in Dushore, and Sherwood Groves Automotive in Towanda. Later, he enjoyed a role as a parts delivery and counter person for NAPA Auto Parts in Troy, PA.
Nelson's love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies. He found great joy in hunting, splitting firewood, and exploring nature through Jeeping and riding motorcycles. His appreciation for the simple pleasures of life left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
On October 10, 1981, Nelson married the love of his life, Patricia A. Bowman. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising three children: Jessica (Torrey) Sensenig, Eric (Melissa) Ferris, and Jared (Elese) Brackbill. He was a proud grandfather to Becky (Evan) Pfoutz, Robert (Kirsten) Sensenig, Hunter Ferris, Jase Ferris, Damien Brackbill, and Cadence Brackbill, and a cherished great-grandfather to Adeline Pfoutz and Eliza Pfoutz. Nelson is also survived by his sister, Lucinda (Michael) McCann. Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Amos Nelson and Amy Elizabeth (Mentzer) Brackbill, as well as his sister, Cynthia Harkum, Nelson will be remembered by family and friends for his kindness, integrity, and the warmth he brought to every gathering.
A celebration of Nelson's life is planned for March 14, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Alparon Park’s Exhibition Hall #2 in Troy, PA . The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
