Nathan “Nate” Marshall Case, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in Troy, Pennsylvania, at the age of 69. Born on April 2, 1956, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, Nate was a cherished member of the community whose gentle spirit and dedication to family and friends left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1974, Nate furthered his education at Williamsport Area Community College (now known as Pennsylvania College of Technology). He built a commendable career through his work with F.P. Case & Sons, Cummings Lumber, and Hoover's Hardware, where he retired as the respected Lumber Yard Manager. Known for his warm interactions and sincere enjoyment of his customers, Nate left behind a legacy of integrity and commitment. Nate was a man of diverse interests, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid collector of toy tractors, with a particular fondness for John Deere models, and spent many enjoyable hours watching Pennsylvania Farm Show events. A lover of the "quiet life," Nate found peace in farming, chopping and splitting wood, and always prioritized caring for his family and many friends. His faith and dedication to community were evident through his past attendance at Windfall Community Church and his service as a past master of Trojan Lodge #306 in Troy.
On May 14, 1977, Nate married the love of his life, Joy M. Ayres, at Windfall Community Church. Together they built a beautiful family that survives him today. In addition to his devoted wife Joy, Nate is survived by his children: Matthew Nathan Case and fiancée Danielle Finnerty of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, Danielle M. Cranmer of Troy, PA, and Leisl R. Case of Troy, PA; grandchildren Gabriel, Gavin, Aiden, and Hermione; brother William R. Case and wife Jeanette of Troy, PA; sister Sally A. Case of Georgia; along with several nieces and nephews. Nate is preceded in death by his loving parents, Franklin Marshall and Jean Elizabeth (Rishel) Case, and his sister Marcia Case.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nate’s life at a service to be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Windfall Community Church, located at PA 3021 & Coolbaugh Rd, Granville Summit, PA 16926. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Windfall Community Church or the American Cancer Society, honoring Nate's generous spirit and enduring commitment to both his faith and the fight against cancer.
