Melva J. (Reider) May

Melva J. (Reider) May, 85, of Towanda, PA passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Towanda Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth G. May who passed away on December 18, 2016. The couple married July 1, 1961 and had 55 happy years together.

Melva was born on November 14, 1939 at home in Towanda, daughter of the late George and Lucy (Fenner) Reider. She was a graduate of Towanda High School, Class of 1957, and enjoyed cooking, cleaning, shopping, and tending to her flower garden.

Melva is survived by her son David A. May of Towanda, daughters-in-law Jennifer May and Sharon May, grandchildren Dillan, Tyler, and Hunter, great grandchildren Conner, Riley, Kayden, and Olivia, sister Shirley Ball, brothers: William Reider, Gerald Reider, and Ronald Reider, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken, sons Scott May and Wayne May, and brother Mike Reider.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:00-1:00 PM on Monday, February 10, 2025 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main St. Troy, PA. The funeral service to celebrate Melva’s life will be held at the conclusion of the viewing at 1:00 PM on Monday February 10th at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald Bly of the Leroy Independent Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Sylvan Hill Cemetery.
