Mattaleen "Micki" (Love) Hicks, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 14, 2024, at the age of 86, at Bradford Hills Nursing & Rehab in Troy, PA. Born on February 22, 1938, in Norristown, PA, Micky was the daughter of the late Matthew and Kathleen (Murray) Love. A 1955 graduate of Upper Merion High School, Micki excelled in both basketball and field hockey, showcasing her athletic talent and love for sports from an early age. She had a fulfilling career as a bookkeeper for the Troy Area School District, where her meticulous nature and dedication left a lasting impact.
Micki was an avid reader and a devoted member of the Allen F. Pierce Free Library in Troy. Her love for literature was rivalled only by her affection for the great outdoors, where she enjoyed camping trips and exploring nature. She found great joy in watching her son and stepsons play high school sports, cheering them on with pride. Micki's heart was always open to her beloved dogs and cats, who were constant companions throughout her life.
Micki is survived by her son, Dr. Stephen (Brittany) Renzi of Granville Summit, PA; her stepsons, Timothy (Lori) Hicks of Millerton, PA, Scott (Lisa) Hicks of Naples, FL, William (Anne) Hicks of Hanover, MD; and her stepdaughter, Dorene (Mike) Fives of Troy, PA. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory dear. She is preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Kathleen (Murray) Love; her husband, Robert Hicks, who passed away on May 18, 2023; her son, James Matthew Renzi; her brothers, William and Gerald; and her sister, Judy.
A celebration of Micki's life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor her and share in the joy of a life well-lived. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 W Main St. Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Micki's name to the Allen F. Pierce Free Library, 34 Fenner Avenue, Troy, PA 16947, to continue her legacy of fostering her love for reading within the community she treasured.
