Lydia Janette Stowell

Lydia Janette (Darrow) Stowell, Age 101, passed away in Locust Grove, Virginia at the home of her granddaughter. Janette was born October 17, 1915 in Granville Summit, PA daughter of the late Herman and Bertha (Stanton) Darrow. She was married to the late Stanley A. Stowell who predeceased her in 2000. Janette was employed as a housekeeper for many years and enjoyed spending time with her loving family. She was a former member of the East Smithfield United Methodist Church and current member of the Abundant Life Christian Fellowship while living in Locust Grove. Her interests included playing piano, cooking, gardening and taking care of her flowers and dancing.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Rick (Lynn) Shepler of Long Beach, MS, Michael Heckert of Rhoadesville, VA and Valerie (Alan) Sullivan of Locust Grove, VA, great-grandchildren, Matthew, Lauryn, Meagan, Nicholas, Brandon, Richard and Robert along with seven great-great-grandchildren, two nephews Carl Darrow, Don Darrow both of New York, several nieces, nephews.
Janette was predeceased by her parents, husband, brothers, Ralph, Riley, Clifford, Lewis and Robert Darrow and her daughter Loretta Margaret Stowell.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service that will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Hilton Cemetery, Route 6, Troy, PA.
