Kenneth H. Tomb,86, of East Springfield, PA, passed away on October 8, 2026. Born in DuBois, Pennsylvania, on July 19, 1940 to the late Kenneth and Alice (Howard) Tomb, Ken lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his community, and his passions.

After graduating from Sandy Township High School in 1958, Ken pursued higher education at Grove City College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He began his professional career as a District Administrator, a role he faithfully performed until 1980. Demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit, Ken purchased a site in East Smithfield and established Ken’s Hardware, a beloved local business which he operated until 1998 before retiring.

Ken was a man of varied interests and talents. He took great pride in his cherished 1968 Firebird Convertible, a single-owner vehicle treasured by both him and his family. An avid golfer, Ken was a longtime member of the Tomassos Golf Club, where he enjoyed spending time with friends. He also loved fishing and the peaceful moments spent on the boat. A skilled woodworker, Ken crafted many beautiful pieces of furniture and art, leaving behind a legacy of creativity.

Family was at the heart of Ken’s life. He was deeply devoted to his wife Elaine L. Tomb, his children Jamie (Joanne) Elvidge and Tammy (Vern) Jackson, and held a special and loving bond with his grandson Zachary Jackson. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kenneth Tomb, Brother-In-Laws, Norman Tompkins, Marlin Tompkins, and Tom Leahy. He is survived by his brother Gordan (Sandra) Tomb, Sister-In-Law Judy Leahy, Brother-In-Law, Dale (Judy) Tompkins, his special golfing buddies, Les, John, Dave, and Carm as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Ken proudly served his country as a member of the US Army Reserves. He was also a committed member of the Big Pond Lions Club for thirteen years and an active participant in the East Smithfield Helping Hands Church community.

A memorial service to honor Ken’s life will be held 11AM on October 19 at East Smithfield Helping Hands Church, 312 Church Street, East Smithfield. Visitation will be from 10AM until time of service. To honor Ken’s memory, the family would like visitors to brandish their colorful and casual attire. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home in Troy, PA. The family invites friends and loved ones to leave condolences online at www.vickeryfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ken’s honor to the East Smithfield Helping Hands Church, PO Box 31, East Smithfield, PA 18817. The family will handle flowers for the service.

Ken Tomb’s warmth, dedication, and craftsmanship touched many lives. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
