John Blair Yurkanin, Sr. Age 61, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 unexpectedly at Troy Community Hospital. Blair as he was affectionately known was born July 8, 1953 in Orange, NJ. son of the late John G. and Dorothy (Shelinski) Yurkanin, Jr. Blair was a graduate of Delaware Valley College and worked side by side with his loving wife Cammy as dairy farmers. He and the former Cammy Wood were married on October 4, 1975 and began their life of farming together ending up in Columbia Cross Roads. Blair in his spare time was a track coach at Troy High School working with the discus and shot-put athletes. His memberships included the Troy Rotary Club, Pennsylvania Dairyman’s Association, The Center for Dairy Excellence, past member of the Brown Swiss Association, Jersey Association and Holstein Association. He was a hard working individual who instilled the ethics of hard work and love to his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife Cammy Yurkanin of Columbia Cross Roads, son and daughter-in-law, John B. (Ally) Yurkanin, Jr., daughters and sons-in-law, Heather (Brandon) Walters of Chapel Hill, NC, and Amberleigh (Justin) Packard of Columbia Cross Roads, his loving grandchildren Katherine Blair Walters, Connor George Packard and John Blair Yurkanin, III, a sister and brother-in-law, Gail Ann (Steven) Stargardter of San Diego, CA, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. Blair’s funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 8 PM with Reverend Garry Zuber officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at the farm the Blair so dearly loved.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Troy Track & Field in memory of Coach Yurkanin.
