James H. "Jim" Jenkins

James H. "Jim" Jenkins, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, at the age of 89 at Sayre Personal Care Home, Sayre, PA. Born on January 8, 1937, in Springfield, Jim was known for his kind spirit, dedication to family, and passion for farming and community.

Jim devoted much of his life to the agricultural industry, starting as a long-time farmer. His career included significant contributions at Carl Pierce Farm Equipment, Martins Dairy Equipment, and Sire Power, Inc., where he worked in Artificial Insemination. His deep connection to the land and farming was evident throughout his life.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting and spent countless hours perfecting his bowling skills. His dedication to the sport earned him induction into the Troy Bowling Hall of Fame. In his leisure time, he found joy in watching classic episodes of *Gunsmoke* on Grit TV and cheering for his favorite sports teams, the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Braves. Above all, Jim cherished watching his grandchildren play softball, basketball, soccer, and showing cows, delighting in their accomplishments and growth.

Jim was an active member of several community organizations. He proudly participated in the Troy FFA and was a committed member of the local Grange and Leona Open Arms Ministry. For many years, he served as the Troy Fair Dairy Superintendent, leaving a lasting impact on the community he loved.

On June 21, 1958, Jim married the love of his life, Jean Walsh. Together they built a beautiful family and shared many joyful years until her passing on October 29, 2001. Preceding him in death were his parents, Edward C. and Dorothy (Baldwin) Jenkins; his brothers, Thomas, Steven, and Richard Jenkins; an infant sister; granddaughter Ashley Gush; and granddaughter-in-law Robin Kingsley.

Jim is survived by his loving children: sons Jeffrey Jenkins, Jon (Cathy) Jenkins, and James T. (Tracy) Jenkins; daughters Jacqueline J. (Martin) Kingsley and Judith J. (Tom) Gush. He leaves behind a legacy of 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren with one more great-great-grandchild due next week, along with numerous cherished friends including special friend Anne Harkness, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Leona Open Arms Ministry, located at 3393 Leona Rd, Troy, PA 16947. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will follow at 11:00 AM at the church, with Pastor Jody Kenyon officiating. Interment will be private in Leonard Salisbury Evergreen Cemetery.

Jim’s family will provide flowers for his service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the FFA Troy Chapter c/o Troy Area School District, 68 Fenner Ave., Troy, PA 16947, or to Leona Open Arms Ministry. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Troy, PA.
