Hazel (Day) Williams Brannaka, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Troy, PA, on August 21, 2024, at the age of 96. Born on September 30, 1927, in Davis, WV, Hazel lived a life marked by hard work, dedication to family, and simple joys.
Hazel was a graduate of Ralston High School, Class of 1947 and her work ethic was evident in her long working career. She began her working life at the stocking factory in Troy, then working for Sylvania in Williamsport, PA, before moving to the Sylvania plant Towanda, PA. She later found fulfillment working at Paper Magic Eureka in Troy, PA, and ultimately at American Silk Label in Troy, where she remained a dedicated employee until her retirement in 1989.
Outside of her work life, Hazel enjoyed quilting, putting puzzles together, and doing word searches. These hobbies brought her peace and joy, reflecting her patient and meticulous nature.
Hazel leaves behind a loving family and a legacy of fond memories. She is survived by her children, Douglas (Gail) Williams of Sayre, PA, Debbie (Rick) Williams of Troy, Dale (Lisa) Williams of Rome, PA, and Donna Rae (Adam) Vincent of Troy, and stepsons Harold (Patty) Brannaka of Yukon, PA, and Gary (Debbie) Brannaka of Hunker, PA. Her nurturing spirit will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, along with several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Alta Day; her first husband, Robert B. Williams; her second husband, Harold Brannaka; and her sisters, Ruby Shipman, Mary Kathryn Ryder, and Dorothy Hardgrove.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a viewing from 10:00-11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Vickery Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main St. Troy, PA. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Jody Kenyon officiating. Hazel will be laid to rest in Beech Flats Cemetery in East Canton, PA.
Memorial contributions in Hazel's memory may be made to a charity of one's own choosing. Hazel will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
