Gladys M. (Garrison) Hurlburt

Gladys M. (Garrison) Hurlburt, 91, of Troy, PA, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at home with her family by her side.  She was the loving wife of the late Lewis M. Hurlburt who passed away November 27, 1990.  The couple married July 4, 1942 and had 48 happy years together.

Gladys was born on July 6, 1924 in Roseville, PA, daughter of the late Roy L. and Florence A. (Hulslander) Garrison, Sr.  She was a Bookkeeper and Teller for the First Bank of Troy from 1965 till her retirement in 1986.  Gladys was a 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge, a life member of the Troy Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, a 46 year member of the American Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary, and a 33 year member of the 8 & 40.

Gladys is survived by her children: Marcia J. (Ronald) Roblyer of Troy, PA, Sandra H. (Larry) Hoose of Brooksville, FL, and John W. (Kathleen) Hurlburt of Troy, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, sister Janice M. Bolt of Granville Summit, PA, sister-in-law Leona Garrison of Troy, PA, along with several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lewis, her daughter Vivian L. Hurlburt who passed away on October 5, 2006, her brothers Roy L. Garrison, Jr. and Harold D. Garrison.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 10:00-11:00 am on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA.  The funeral service to celebrate Gladys’ life will be held at the conclusion of the viewing at 11:00 am on Monday, December 28th at the funeral home with family friend Rev. Kenneth Marple officiating.  Burial will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park.
