George Willard Yearick, Jr., 88, of Troy, PA, passed into eternity on April 1, 2024, at the Bradford Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Burlington, PA. He was born on April 11, 1935, in Marion Township, Centre County, PA. He was a son of the late George Willard and Ruby Frazier Yearick. George was a graduate of Mansfield University and after graduation was hired as the Director of Bands at Troy High School. He later became the principal at Troy High School. In his retirement years, George served as the principal of St. Agnes elementary school in Towanda, PA. George was active in the Lions Club as a past District Governor, was the Choir Director at the First Presbyterian Church for many years, and was a member of the Faculty Lodge on Armenia Mountain and the Penn State Nittany Lion Club. He also directed a musical combo that played various venues around the local area and helped form a Lions Club state band. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Graffius Yearick who passed away on August 7, 2019; a brother, Homer Yearick (Morehead City, NC), and sisters June Walizer (Howard, PA), and Ethel Fisher (Murphy, NC). He is survived by a son; Vince Yearick, of Lovettsville, VA; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Rachel, Micah, and Stephan Yearick. Burial was in Jacksonville, Cemetery, Marion Township, PA. Family and friends are welcome to call from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM on Friday, August 2, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, 1060 West Main St. Troy, PA 16947. The memorial service will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM on Friday, August 2nd at the church.
