Elwin E. Fleming,  passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, in Towanda, PA, at the age of 89. Born on November 24, 1935, in Sayre, PA, Elwin was a devoted family man, cherished friend, and respected member of his community.

A proud graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1953, Elwin dedicated his life to farming, embodying the virtues of hard work and perseverance. After retiring from his beloved farm, he continued to share his infectious smile with all who visited Hurley’s Market, where he earned his nickname "Hollywood" for his ever-present warmth and friendliness.

Elwin was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in watching wrestling and polka on television. Sundays were reserved for his cherished trips to Walmart and Eddie's Restaurant, where he savored both the food and the company. A man of steadfast faith, Elwin was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church.

Elwin is survived by his devoted daughter, Diane Rockwell (Ken Swain) of West Burlington, and his loving son, David Fleming, Sr. of Troy, PA. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love carried on by his grandchildren: Andra Swain, Thomas (Cassandra) Swain, Terri Bruce, Shawn (Shelby) Flemming, Dakota (Brittany) Searfoss, Jessica Meeker (Billy Bailey), and David Fleming, Jr., as well as numerous great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his beloved companion, Joyce Bradford; his sister, Kathy Seeley of Canton, PA; sisters-in-law, Kate Fleming of Towanda, Sandy Fleming of Pittsburgh, PA, Pat Fleming of Granville Summit, PA, Jeanne Greenour of North Carolina, and Alice Stewart of South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Bill (Anne) Besanceney of Georgia, David (Grace) Besanceney of New York, and Donald (Darlene) Furman of Texas. Elwin's spirit and stories will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his feline companion named “Cat”.

Elwin is preceded in death by his loving parents, Lawrence and Beatrice (Dexter) Fleming; his beloved wife, Kathryn (Furman) Fleming, who passed away in 1992; his cherished daughter, Gloria Stermer; his brothers, Fred, Clifford, Charles, and William; daughter-in-law Shelby (Gardner) Fleming and his in-laws, William and Mary Besanceney.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Elwin’s life at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 W Main St. Troy, PA on Monday, December 9, 2024. The viewing will take place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Elwin will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery.
