Edgar R. Susemihl

Edgar (Ed) R. Susemihl, age 87, of Elmira, NY passed away at home on May 7, 2026. He was born at St Joseph Hospital, April 19, 1939. He was an only child, Predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Edgar B & Althea S Havens; his paternal grandparents, Herman R & Lillian P Susemihl; and parents, Harold R & Winifred H Susemihl, his wife Catherine (Kate) Reidy Susemihl and cousin Patricia Johnson whom he was very close. Ed graduated from Southside High School in 1957. He worked for a variety of employers until 1962 when NCR hired him. That lasted 10 years. He also started repairing cars on evenings & weekends, which turned into a full-time career when NCR cut back. With luck and help from friends, he was successful. In 1982 he met Kate and her 11-year-old son David. They married on his birthday in 1983. The business prospered through 3 moves and Ed’s Auto Sales & Garage stayed successful. Due to health issues, (both Ed and Kate) he retired in 2002. His only regret was not living by the adage “all things in moderation”.

Ed is survived by his stepson & daughter in-law David & Deanna Reidy, his granddaughters; ”The Dreamer” Korey (Ti) Le^, “The Athlete” Jamie (Zak) Percey and his beloved Great-Grandson Colton Percey. He will be missed by life-long friends, Marty (Mary Margaret) Silvers, David Andrews, & Don Hughes. Burial will be next to his wife Kate at Woodlawn Cemetery with service being held at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
