David G. Cole

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David "Dave" G. Cole, 71, of Farmers Valley, PA, departed this world on July 2, 2024. He was the loving husband of  Juanita "Kim"  K. (Thorp) Cole. The couple married June 1, 1985 and had 39 happy years together.

Dave was born on June 6, 1953, son of the late Walter Cole, Jr. and Mary Jane (Wolfe) Cole of Troy. He was a 1972 Troy High School graduate and enjoyed a fulfilling career as a small engine mechanic and fabricator at Bradco Supply in Towanda, PA, where his skilled hands and keen mind left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Away from work, his passions included hunting, fishing, golfing, and e-biking with his wife Kim. His love for the great outdoors and sports brought joy to his life and to those around him. David was a proud member of the Faculty Lodge Hunting Club on Armenia Mountain, was a social member of the Troy American Legion, and a founding member of The Loft hunting club which was established in 2001, he also cherished his time in the Monday night golf league at Corey Creek Golf Club. These communities offered him camaraderie and countless treasured memories.

He is survived by his devoted wife Juanita K. "Kim" (Thorp) Cole, his loving mother Mary Jane (Wolfe) Cole of Troy, and his children; Grant (Jessica) Cole of Wellsboro, PA, Stephanie (Rocky) Byrd of Ulster, PA, Brandon Cole of Athens, PA, and Chad (Mackenzie) Cole of Granville, PA. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Ransom Schultz, Rhylee Byrd, Connor Cole, Jase Byrd, Mila Cole, and Sienna Cole. Dave’s siblings include Harold (Beth) Cole, Duane "Ike" (Patty) Cole, Tom (Phebe) Cole, Sue (Jim) Birdsall, and Richard (Missy) Cole who will miss him dearly, as will his father-in-law and mother-in-law Larue and Judy Thorp, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Brian and Lisa Thorp, Diane and Robbie Robinson, Dan and Linda Thorp, and his many nieces and nephews. Additionally, lifelong friends Terry Howe, Jerry Garrison, and Robert VanBlarcom are left to cherish the countless memories they created over the years. Dave is preceded in death by his father Walter Cole, Jr., sister Rosie Smith, nephews Scott Cole and Zach Cole, and niece Sara Cole.

The celebration of David’s life will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM on July 27, 2024 at the Troy Vets Club, 183 Veterans Drive, Troy, PA 16947. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main St. Troy, PA has been trusted with the funeral arrangements.
