It is with great sadness that we announce the passing our mother Carolyn J. Imbt on December 16th, 2025. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Imbt in 2023. Since his passing Carolyn tried to fill her life with meaningful experiences with her family and friends but missed Jack deeply. Her golden doodle, Suzie, was the absolute love of her life without her husband. The family jokingly said Suzie had no clue she was in fact a dog. Special meals would be prepared by Carolyn daily and it was a sure bet that if you took mom food, Suzie would enjoy the lion’s share. Jack and Carrie moved here with their son, John Jr. in 1977 purchasing a farm with absolutely no experience in farming. The two began bailing hay with borrowed equipment and eventually built a pig farm. Carolyn converted the pig farm to a veal operation and ran it with the help of some hired hands for several years before opening Bradford Builders, a custom home building business. Carolyn oversaw the construction of countless homes fulfilling people’s lifelong dreams of custom homes in which to raise their families and form memories. Over the years the business grew but with the decline in housing it transitioned to a commercial roofing company. Jack and Carrie operated that business along with family and friends for nearly 25 years. They were the happiest and most rewarding times of their lives. Carolyn was the first person to pick up a tool and dive into the work. Workers were always aware that when Carrie was on the roof, you had to be on your a-game or risk getting sent home for slacking off. Born on June 16th, 1944 and passing 81 years later Carrie lived a rich life filled with hard work, dedication, and a tremendously generous heart. She was born into poverty and grew up with little. It was common for her to show up at her siblings’ houses with garbage bags full of Christmas presents for her nieces and nephews and slide hundred-dollar bills to people at every chance. Her late mother Cora and her father Arthur raised Carrie alongside her sister Ellie and five brothers Dave, Art, Dick, Walt, and George. She is survived by her children John Imbt Jr. and his wife Nicole, Steven Segear and his fiancé Theresa Brands , and Wendy Segear. Grandchildren John (Jack) Imbt, Mason Imbt, Steven Segear Jr. Michael Segear, Mallory Kraemer, and Emma Bandorf and her husband Tim.
Carolyn passed away after battling dementia at Twin Oaks Personal Care home with her son John holding her hand assuring her that she was loved, her loved ones would miss her, and she had done well preparing them for life.
