Berdena (Brewer) Strong, 98, of Troy, PA, formerly of Mosherville went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from her daughter’s home in Edgewater, FL.
Berdena was born on May 3, 1917 in Wells Township, Bradford County, PA, daughter of the late Jerome and Grace (Luckey) Brewer. She was a Credit Investigator for Sears in Horseheads, NY and retired 1982 after 27 years of service. Berdena was the longest living member of the Mosherville Bible Church, and also attended First Baptist Church of Troy, Sylvania Presbyterian Church, and Bella Vista Baptist Church in Edgewater, FL. She volunteered for Elmira Hospice, Troy Farm Museum, and the Troy Hospital Gift Shop. Berdena enjoyed traveling, golfing, and bowling. Her special craft was making Christmas stockings for family and friends, but most of all Berdena enjoyed spending time with her family.
Berdena is survived by her daughters Darlene (William) Fatula and Donna (Walter) Koenig, both of Edgewater, FL, and Dawn (Gregory) McClure of Troy, PA, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her special cousin Harold Shepard of Dryden, NY, special nieces Maureen (Nils) Peterson of Troy, PA, and Marilyn Kinch of Montrose, PA. Berdena was preceded in death by her parents, and her special nephew Ronald Strong.
Family and friends are welcome to call from 12:00-1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Berdena’s life will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 8th at the funeral home with Rev. Garry Zuber, officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
