Alice L. (Smith) Schucker

Alice L. (Smith) Schucker, 95, of Troy, passed away at the Twin Oaks Personal Care Home on April 11, 2025.

Born on September 5, 1929, in Sylvania, she was a daughter of Laurence and Myrtle (Durfee) Smith.

Alice was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1947. After high school, she worked for Troy Leather Company, JC Penney, and Troy Sale Barn.

On November 30, 1951, Alice married Charles Schucker who preceded her in death on February 27, 2015.

Alice was a member of many organizations such as the Troy Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Corey Creek Golf Course, The Wheel Inn, and the Red Hat Society. She attended the Sylvania Presbyterian church for many years and the Olde Covert Church.

She loved golf, card playing, and especially bowling. Alice was an accomplished bowler and recognized by the Troy Women’s Bowling Association as one of the first lady’s to be  inducted into the Troy Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame Inaugural class of 1991.

Alice is survived by her daughters Valerie Schucker, of Lancaster, PA and Lisa (Brian) Kiggans, of Hilton Head, SC, son David (Pat) Schucker, of Columbia Cross Roads, four grandchildren: Travis Schucker, Tracy (Michael) Birmingham, Tyler Schucker, and Sloane Kiggans, 2 great grandchildren, sister Annis Gustin, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, and brother Eldon Smith.

There will be a public visitation on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 1PM to 2PM with a service at 2PM at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral and Cremation Services, 1093 West Main St., Troy, PA, 16947. The Rev. Ken Marple will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made in memory of Alice to the resident’s activity and entertainment program at Twin Oaks Personal Care Home, 1100 Cowley Road, Granville Summit, PA, 16926.

The Schucker family has entrusted Alice’s care to the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA, 16947.
