Alfred “Ike” Andrew Finnerty of the Berwick Turnpike, Burlington area, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024.He was born January 7, 1940 to Doris (McClure) and John Finnerty. On May 25, 1963 he married Beverly Wolfe at the United Methodist Church in East Smithfield. They had 60 happy years together. Ike graduated from Smithfield-Ridgebury-Ulster High School in 1957. While there he wrestled, played soccer and baseball. One thing he was very proud of was being Robert Hettich’s catcher playing softball. After graduating he worked at the Holding Point in Horseheads, New York. He was a hard-working farmer all his life, buying the farm in 1960. He was so much more though; if something needed repairing, building, or whatever he learned how to do it. He did many things to make his home nice. He had a portable sawmill that he enjoyed using. He liked to read, especially  about the wars. He did Sudoku and liked doing most of the activities in the Daily Review newspaper. He was a courageous person when he lost his fingers and fought so hard to get strong again the last 3 years of his life. He was also a very generous person.

He has two loving daughters, Diane (Tim) Curran and Darla (Mike) Locke,  six grandchildren: Brenna (Will) Shields, Logan, Rylan, Courtney, Erica, and Abby. He had three siblings, Gavin (Ellen) of whom he was especially close to, Judy (Vincent) Arena, and Dale who is deceased. Ike has three sisters-in-law: Cheryl (Larry) Paris, Darlene (Cliff) Packard, and Candice (Roger) Learn. He has many nieces and nephews, one of whom he was especially close to Ashley Dean, he was pre deceased by Gavin and Ellen's son Jim.

Services for Ike are private and at the convenience of his family. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main St. Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family wishes to thank Guthrie Hospice for all their help with Ike.
