A. Margaret Cummings

September 27, 1923 — February 2, 2022

A. Margaret “Peggy” (Dexter) Cummings, Age 98, of Troy passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2022, with her loving family at her side. She was born September 27, 1923, in Roulette, PA daughter of the late Ezra & Maureen (Shepard) Dexter. Following graduation from school she attended nursing school and obtained her RN Degree and had worked for a period of time at the Blossburg Hospital. She was married to the late Roy W. Cummings, Sr and enjoyed many years together prior to his passing in 2017. She was a member of the Eastern Star where she served as Matron, Peggy was also Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls and Girl Scout Leader in Troy. She spent her summers at Seneca Lake and winters in Myrtle Beach and enjoyed entertaining her many family and friends. In her spare time Peggy could be found cooking, painting, knitting, wood carving and playing euchre.

Surviving are her daughters, Meralee (Keith) DeClercq of Erieville, NY, Sherri Gillette of Colorado Springs, CO, Lori (Brad) Ingram of Myrtle Beach, SC, Peggy Lee (Duane) Stevens of East Smithfield, Roy W. (Kim) Cummings Jr., Lee (Nancy) Cummings, Gary (Doris) Cummings, all of Troy,  her grandchildren, Kim (Drew) Smith, Chelsie Gillett, Lori (David) Brown, Brooke (Jason) Farry, Kristi (Joel) Godec, Jessica (Alex) Roberts, Tom Stevens, Chip Cummings, Scott (Robyn) Cummings, Jay Cummings, Rochelle (Vaughn) Kendall, Doug (Jennifer) Cummings, Amy (David) Wilkes, Corrie Cummings, Casine Cummings, great grandchildren, Andrew, Kristofer, Levi, Joseph, Benjamin, Isaac, Austin, Sydney, Colton, Brooks, Vydalia, Jacob, Justin, Jay, Aahlesisia, Ashley, Katie, Delaney, Corbin, Evan, Laura, Hailey, Kara, Owen, Kennedy and Morgan, her feline companion, Velvet.

The family would like to thank Peggy’s caregivers for their attentiveness and excellent care over the years.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents, husband Roy W. Cummings, Sr., a brother, Dr. Richard Dexter and granddaughter-in-law, Mary Cummings.

There will be no services and burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery when the weather permits. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA.

Memorial in Peggy’s name may be made to the Troy Area Foundation, 68 Fenner Avenue, Troy, PA, 16947.
