Sharon Rae VanZile Gurnsey, age 73, of Inverness, FL quietly passed away 
Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. She 
was born on February 8, 1944, the daughter of the late Raymon and Florence 
(Seymour) VanZile. Sharon started her career as a X-ray Technician at the 
Arnot Ogden Hospital before becoming a bookkeeper. She was the treasurer and 
lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Troy. Sharon loved to read, 
spend time with her family and laugh with her friends, especially her 
classmates of the Class of 1962. She retired in 2006 from Oak Hill Veneer. 
Sharon and George relocated to Inverness, FL in 2012. She attended the First 
Presbyterian Church, volunteered for the Citrus County Crime Watch, as well 
as enjoyed countless dinners and card games with her friends.

Sharon was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother (known as Mimi), aunt, and 
friend. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Her love and 
kindness will live in the hearts of so many people.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, George L. Gurnsey, her 
daughters: DeAnna L. Carpenter (Kenny Knecht) of Trout Run, PA and Michelle 
L. (Sean) Kallaugher of Berlin, CT and her granddaughters: Meagan Rae 
Jennings (fiancé Shannon Bump), Samantha L. Carpenter and Sydney Rae 
Kallaugher. She is also survived by her sister, Gladys (Paul) Starkey of 
Columbia Cross Roads, PA, her brother, LaRue (Carol) VanZile of Mainesburg, 
PA, several nieces & nephews and special friends.

In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her brother, 
James M. VanZile.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at a memorial to be 
announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations 
to be sent to the First Baptist Church of Troy. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with local arrangements.
