Cheryl and family, our love and prayers are with each one of you at this very difficult time. May it console you to know just how much Rich was loved. We fondly remember all the memories of Troy High and the great times we all shared as a close knit faculty sharing times together. Gary and Sharon Merrick

Rich was an amazing person, teacher and friend to all. I've only known him for the last few years, but I can honestly say he was the one person the "downstairs U" truly looked forward to getting a visit from at Troy HS. His stories will live on and he will be greatly missed by many. Rest in peace friend.

Rich was such a nice and friendly person to be around. He always had such a smile when talking about his family and especially his grandchildren, his family can be so proud of who he was, what he stood for, and the impact he has left here in Troy. He most definitely will be remembered and talked about for a long time. A person's life can be measured by the number of friends they has made, Rich will stand on top of the clouds here.
God Bless this family and may Rich enjoy the journey in Heaven.

CHERYL AND FAMILY, PLEASE KNOW MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH EACH OF YOU. I RESPECTED RICH AS A TEACHER, HIS COMMUNITY SERVICE, AND ATHLETIC ABILITY. WE PITCHED MANY SOFTBALL GAMES AGAINST EACH OTHER. LIKE ME, HE WAS A NEW YORK YANKEE FAN. I AM GLAD I HAD A CHANCE TO HAVE SOME GREAT CHATS WITH HIM JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS. BLESS EACH OF YOU.
VERY SINCERELY, HARLAN PRESS

Both Linda and I wish to extend our profound sense of loss upon learning to Rich's passing. We remember back to the time when Rich and Cheryl came to Troy. Each of them are valued members of the Troy Area School District family and community. Rich's community participation and sense of humor will be sorely missed.

Dear Cheryl and family,
I am truly sorry for you at this difficult time. Just remember Rich's spirit is always with you. Talk as if he is right there, laugh at his antics, include him in your life.......it will help you because his spirit is alive and all around. Again, I am thinking of you...Carol

My deepest condolences to the family. When God calls our loved ones home it is a difficult time for us to say Good-bye, but the ones that leave are welcomed Home to a Love that only God can give! We will all be together with God one day, in Peace. ~ When I remember Mr. Carlonas I always think of his mustache and how it didn't seem to move even when he tried to pronounce the Spanish words for us as clearly as possible so we heard every syllable or letter we needed to hear to learn. Yes, I thought it was funny, but he did keep my attention long enough to learn and still remember "en tus libros pasa a la pagina...."

He was a great teacher and kind man! I appreciated my time with him, especially the time with him on Spanish trip to Mexico in 1999
