Jean L. Jones

Jean L. Jones, age 89, of Prospect Street, Troy, PA, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 8, 2017 at home. Jean was born in Dunmore, PA on February 7, 1928, the daughter of the late Theodore and Jennie (Gromlich) Compton. She and Donald A. Jones were married on February 21, 1948 in Scranton, PA and just recently celebrated 69 years together. Jean was previously employed at the Clarks Summit State Hospital as a telephone operator, and during WWII worked as an operator. Jean also owned JLJ Company, in Troy, PA, which distributed advertising materials. Jean enjoyed playing bridge, collecting dolls, and traveling with her husband, Don. She was an avid bowler and could always be found baking and cooking for her family who she loved and adored, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 Survivors include her husband, Donald A. Jones of Troy; son, Donald A. (Dawn) Jones of Clarks Summit, PA; daughter, Debi Hays of Horseheads, NY; five grandchildren, Dylan Hays, Beau Hays, Bryan Jones, Carly Hays and Justin Jones; five great grandchildren; brother, Harold Compton, of Clarks Summit, PA; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
 Family and friends are invited to call from 12 PM to 2 PM, Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA. Jean’s funeral will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 2 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Joshua Davensizer of the Troy United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy.
