David Mark McBratney, Sr. 72, of West Burlington, PA went home to be with his Lord Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Bradford County Manor after a long battle Multiple Sclerosis. He was the loving husband of Charlotte Ann (Boris) McBratney.  The couple married December 16, 1967 and had almost 50 years together.

 

David was born on October 27, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Joseph H. McBratney, Sr. and Agnes (Mark) McBratney.  He was a US Air Force veteran serving his country in the Vietnam War.  David was a plumber by trade. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy and enjoyed singing in the choir.  He enjoyed canoeing, bicycling where sometimes he biked 50 miles to and from work, and doing ventriloquism where he would illustrate God’s word through “Gospel Magic”. David was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians for over 25 years and was awarded the “Order of Merlin” for his 25 years of membership. While as a resident of the Bradford County Manor he was active as a volunteer and was past president of the Resident Council.

 

David is survived by his wife Charlotte, his children David Mark McBratney, Jr. and wife Sherry (Houser) McBratney, Drew William McBratney, and Erin Grace (McBratney) Yucel and husband Ibrahim Yucel, his grandchildren: Trevor, Alexandria, and Donovan McBratney, Ann Yucel, and Shawna, Carson, and Corey Houser, his great grandchildren Alaina and Naomi, his brother William H. McBratney, Jr. and wife Esther, brother-in-law William J. Boris, and sister-in-law Lorraine J. Boris, along with several nieces and nephews.  David was predeceased by his parents, his siblings: Joseph H. McBratney, Jr. Lt Col. Robert McBratney, Ruth McBratney, Elizabeth McBratney Egerter, and Mary McBratney Hunt.

 

A Memorial Service to honor David will be held at a later date with the Gerald Vickery Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. handling the arrangements.
