Charles F. Houseknecht, 85, of Springfield Township passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Fink) Houseknecht. The couple married February 27, 1965 and had 54 happy years together.
Charlie was born on August 20, 1933 in Williamsport, PA, son of the late Harold D. and Clara (Hackling) Houseknecht. He was a 1953 graduate of Montoursville High School and was a US Navy veteran. Charlie was a lifelong farmer and worked hard on the family farm, was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
Charlie is survived by his wife Pat, his children: Charlene (Joe) Andrus, Charles F. (Robin) Houseknecht, Jr., Melissa (Jim) Rockwell, and William (Stacy) Houseknecht, his grandchildren: Paul Andrus, Jessica and Emily Rockwell, Andrew Houseknecht, Hannah, Hope, Hart, and Hale Houseknecht, his great granddaughter Violet Andrus, his siblings: Robert Houseknecht, Sus Toothacher, and David Houseknecht, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son John Philip Houseknecht, his brothers: Harold D. Houseknecht, Jr., Chester Houseknecht, and Alvin Houseknecht, along with his sister Janet Bittner.
Family and friends are welcome to call from 10:30-11:00 AM on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 1214 Redington Ave., Troy, PA. The Celebration of Life service to honor Charlie will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 29th at the church with Pastor Timothy Robson of the East Smithfield Federated Church officiating.
