Wellman F. Brown, Age 86, of Smithfield Township, PA passed away at home on Friday, June 5, 2015.  He was the loving husband of Gloria May (Garrison) Brown.  The couple married July 16, 1950 and had 64 happy years together.

 

Wellman was born on September 27, 1928 in East Smithfield, PA, son of the late Francis and Theresa (Bailey) Brown.  He was an SRU High School graduate and soon after went to work for National Homes.  Once he had saved up enough money, Wellman bought his farm and farming became his passion.  In his later years Wellman became owner of Brown’s Attic where he was an antiques and collectables dealer.  He enjoyed peddling his wares at local flea markets and sales.  Wellman had the “gift of gab” and enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and customers.  He was also an avid reader and a collector of many first edition books and was a member of The Bradford County Old Timers Association as well as several others. 

 

Wellman is survived by his loving wife Gloria, his children: Susan and Robert Strauss, Michael and Nancy Brown, Deborah and Mark Freeman, and James and Kimberly Brown, his grandchildren: Tim Brown, Tom and Pam Brown, Doug and Tara Freeman, Michelle Brown, Natalie and Kyle Miller, Christen and Michael Rice, Autumn and Ryan Osborne, and Aaron Brown, his great grandchildren: Justice, Jade, and Janae Brown, Connor, Riley and Elaineah Brown, Keegan Freeman, Layne Brown-Swisher, Gabriel Osborne, Mackenzie, Kamden, and Elise Miller, his sisters Irene Gunshaw and Naomi Dumais, his brother Wendell Brown and sister-in-law Sue Brown, sisters-in-law: Shirley Brown, Janice Brown, and Norma Brown, brothers and sisters-in-law: Bert and Phyllis Garrison, Myrt and Sandy Garrison, Frank and Rose Marie Garrison, and Leda and Bob Kerr, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, fellow Old Timers, and Flea Marketeers.

 

Wellman was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Willard, Juanita, Warren, Charlotte, Walter, Louise, and Wayne.

 

Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 and again from 11:00 am-12:00 pm on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA.  The funeral service will follow the viewing at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 11th at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Wuethrich of the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church officiating.  Burial will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Wellman’s memory to The Bradford County Old Timers Association c/o Diana Henneman, 3 Glenmary Drive Owego, NY 13827 or to the charity of one’s own choosing.
