Louis G. Kingsley

August 9, 1930 ~ February 10, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Louis Gilbert Kingsley

Louis Gilbert Kingsley, 86, of East Smithfield passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Feb. 10.

Born Aug. 9, 1930 in East Smithfield, Louis spent his early years on a farm. He attended Troy schools and often reminisced about childhood and the mischievous antics of he and his brothers.

On Sept. 2, 1951, Louis married the former Doris Jean Raub. The couple shared 65 years of marriage.

With his passing comes a reunion with the mother he lost when he was 4, his father, brother, grandson and numerous loved ones lost through the years. We hope he’ll be socializing and dancing to his heart’s content.

Louis was a man of strong conviction. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from him during his 86 years, among them to love and respect one another as well as the value of hard work.

During the early years of Louis’s life, he worked as a farmer. He also worked alongside his brother at Kingsley Lumber in East Smithfield, was a self-employed trucker and later hauled logs until his retirement.

He also enjoyed many hobbies through the years. Louis enjoyed spending time on his boat on Seneca Lake, being the mechanic for a stock car, and, in years past, hunting with his beloved beagle, Barney.

Louis will be remembered for his smile, work ethic and profound love of his family.

Louis is survived by his wife, Doris, of at home; children David (Sheila) Kingsley of East Smithfield; Raub Kingsley of Milan; Rex (Pamela) Kingsley of Burlington; John Kingsley of Mainesburg; Laura (Rudy) Randolph of Queen Esther; Louella (Mike) Gilbert of Dundee; and Les (Jennifer) Kingsley of Milan. Louis is also survived by brothers Lawrence Kingsley of Milan; Richard (Rosalie) Kingsley of Springfield; and Layton (Elizabeth) Kingsley of Columbia Cross Roads; and sisters Linda Hardenstine of Milan; and Lois (Tom) Elvidge of East Smithfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Louis was predeceased by his parents, Oscar “OJ” and Margaret Keeler Kingsley; and brothers John and Laverne Kingsley; and a grandson, Jason Andrew Kingsley.

Louis made a difference in the lives of many. We invite you to celebrate his life with us from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Vickery Funeral Home, 1093 W. Main St. in Troy. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Federated Church in East Smithfield, followed by burial at Union Cemetery.

Don’t worry, Dad. The last one out will turn off the lights.
