Dorothy W. Driesbaugh, Age 81, of Troy PA passed away on March 10, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born in Troy on April 28, 1933 daughter of the late Bertha (Herda) Ward and James Ward. She was married to the late Donald Driesbaugh. Together the owned and managed the New Trojan Bar for many years. They also worked together at the Troy Vets Club for many years until Don’s retirement. Dorothy also worked at the Martha Lloyd School for 23 years before she retired. Dorothy was hard working all her life, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Dorothy and Don enjoyed many years together woodworking, gardening, shopping, traveling and spending time at the Ponderosa Hunting Club.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Kirsten (Scott) Case of Troy, PA, Joy (Jan) Nichols of Pine City, NY, Julie (Tom) Horton of Carlisle, PA and Marie (Keith) Seymour of Columbia Cross Roads, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chad, Kendell, Katie, Jacob Case, Steven Stone, Tommy Horton, Jamie Horton, Renee Knisely, Greg, Scott, Bryan Seymour, eleven great-grandchildren, a sister Janet Terry, sisters-in-law, Phyllis Ward and Audrey Ward and her faithful companion Max (her cat).
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, loving husband, two brothers and a sister.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to their friends, Guthrie Hospice and Dr. Hoover for their prayers and support and many act of kindness shown during Dorothy’s illness.
The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr, Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA is assisting the family with arrangements. At Dorothy’s request there will be no calling hours. In lieu of calling hours donations can be made in her memory to the Martha Lloyd School, 190 West Main Street, Troy, PA 16947, or to a charity of one’s choice.
