Dorando (Mason) Hoose, 87, of Troy and formerly of Checkerville, PA passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Twin Oaks Personal Care Home in Granville, PA surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Maxwell D. Hoose who passed away on September 19, 1995. The couple married April 6, 1946 and had 49 happy years together.
Family and friends are welcome to call from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Dorando’s life will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 12:00 noon on Monday, April 6th at the funeral home with her pastor, Rev. Daniel Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Dorando was born on December 4, 1927 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late John and Emma (Dunbar) Mason. She was a Troy High School graduate, Class of 1945. Dorando worked as a cashier for the Acme Grocery Store and later for the Super Duper, retiring from the Super Duper in 1989. She attended Springfield Baptist Church, and enjoyed shopping, playing games, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dorando is survived by her children: James (Lelane) Hoose of Easton, PA, Larry (Sandra) Hoose of Brooksville, FL, Scott (Kathleen Harris) Hoose of Fort Myers, FL, Richard (Doris) Hoose of Middletown, PA, and Jenelle Mott of Troy, PA, her grandchildren: Jeffrey Hoose, Marnie Dominick, Amy Hoose, Alex Hoose, Joseph Hoose, Michael Hoose, Lisa DiNunzio, and Kelly Mott, four great grandchildren, her sister Beverly Knights of Troy, PA, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maxwell, and her four sisters and a brother.
