David T. McKerrow, 67, of Troy, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the home of his companion Evelyn Bristol in Alba, PA, surrounded by his family.

 

David was born on February 19, 1948 in Troy, PA, son of the late Gerald T. and Mary (Simpkins) McKerrow.  He was a 1967 graduate of Troy High School and was a Viet Nam veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal after being wounded in action in Viet Nam.  David worked for Ward LaFrance until his retirement in 1984 and went on to work for the Troy Area School District in the Janitorial Department until his retirement in 2002.  David attended the First Baptist Church of Troy, was a member of the Troy American Legion Post #49 and the Rotary Club of Troy.  He enjoyed walking, gardening, hunting and fishing, bowling in several leagues at Terrace Lanes, and was a member of the United States Bowling Congress.

 

David is survived by his companion Evelyn Brystol, his children: Bonnie (Ray) Bixby of Gillett, PA, and Ken (Katey) McKerrow of Pine City, NY, his step children: William (Rebecca) Lloyd of Tustin, MI, and Laura (Timothy) McGlynn of Yardley, PA, his grandchildren: Zach Bixby, Logan and Alex McKerrow, his step grandchildren: Reese and Eli Lloyd, Isabel and Madeline McGlynn, his sister Linda S. (Richard) Campbell of Zuni, VA, along with his nephews: Nick (Connie) Rathbun and Joseph Campbell, and niece Susan Tatem.  David was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Julia J. (Bogaczyk) McKerrow who passed away on January 22, 2008.

 

Family and friends are welcome to call from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA.  The funeral service to celebrate David’s life will be held at the conclusion of the viewing at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 11th at the funeral home with his pastor, Rev. Garry Zuber and Rev. Ozzie Osgood officiating.  Burial will follow in Columbia Valley Cemetery with military honors given by the Troy Veterans Honor Squad.
