Cheryl L. (Preston) Sawyer

Cheryl L. (Preston) Sawyer, 69, of East Troy, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was the loving wife of Dean C. Sawyer.  The couple married August 18, 1972 and had 43 happy years together.

Cheryl was born on May 12, 1946 in Hornell, NY, daughter of the late Gerald and Alberta (Simpson) Preston.  She was a 1964 graduate of Jasper Central School and after became a Nurse’s Aide at the Bradford County Manor and retired after 28 years of service.  Cheryl was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy, enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Dean, her children: Dean Sawyer, Jr. and Darlene (Michael) Marshall, both of Alaska, Angela Jackson of Atglen, PA, Chadwick (Veronica) Sawyer of Danville, PA, Brett Sawyer of Troy, PA, and Gregory (Stephanie) Sawyer of Troy, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her sisters Jean (Duane) Smith of Mount Holley, PA, and Brenda (Russ) Hurlburt of Hornell, NY, along with several nieces and nephews. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 10:00 am-12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Troy, 579 Canton Street Troy, PA.  The funeral service to honor Cheryl’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 20th following the viewing at the church with her pastor and friend, Rev. Garry Zuber, officiating.  Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull, NY.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA.
