Barbara A. (Lewis) Gustin, 77, of Springfield, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at home surrounded by her family and her care giver Eunice.  She was the loving wife of A. Warren Gustin. The couple married January 25, 1958 and had 59 happy years together.

 

Barbara was born on November 5, 1939 in Bentley Creek, PA daughter of the late Elton and Viva (Ripley) Lewis.  She was an East Smithfield School (SRU) graduate, Class of 1957.  She went to work for Woven Label in Troy, PA, and later became a Home Health Aide for Serve (Guthrie) Home Health.  Barb was a long time member of the Springfield Baptist Church and served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir, and served on the church’s Missions Committee, even having missionaries stay in her and Warren’s home.  She was very active in Child Evangelism of Bradford County and ministered to children at release time at the Springfield Elementary School.  She and Warren opened their home to foreign exchange students and had several stay from other countries.  Barb was committed to God, her family, and to helping others.

 

Barbara is survived by her husband Warren, her children: Debbie (Kenneth) Blasz of Springfield, David Gustin of Sayre, Diane (Paul) Rhodes of Shippensburg, PA, Dan Gustin of Springfield, and Denise (David) Manley of Springfield, her grandchildren: Derek, Jackie, Michelle, Jesse, Jennifer, Melissa, Amanda, Paige, and Eve, 12 great grandchildren, her sister Sally Tombs of Horseheads, NY along with several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ethan and David Lewis, and her sister Kathleen Lewis.

 

Friends and family are welcome to call from 1:00-2:00 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main St. Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Barb’s life will be held at 2:00 pm following the visitation on Saturday, March 18th with her pastor, Rev. Daniel Graham and her former pastor Rev. James Crupi of the Elmira Christian Faith Fellowship officiating.  Burial will be private at the convenience of her family in Harkness Cemetery.
